Your Role as a Seasonal Lifeguard
As a Seasonal Lifeguard, you will:
- Patrol Designated Areas: Actively monitor designated beaches and lagoons to ensure safety.
- Monitor Water Activities: Keep an eye on swimmers and report any concerns to prevent incidents.
- Conduct Rescues: Respond quickly to emergencies and administer first aid as necessary.
- Educate the Public: Provide valuable information on water safety and drowning prevention.
- Uphold Standards: Maintain a professional image and uphold Blue Flag standards for beach safety.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, you’ll need:
- A valid Surf Lifeguard Award or equivalent certification.
- At least one year of lifesaving experience.
- A current annual retest for the 2024/2025 season.
- Fluency in at least two of the three official languages spoken in the Kouga area (Afrikaans, English, Xhosa).
- A strong commitment to teamwork, safety, and public service.
